Chuch and community
St Mary’s has a flourishing relationship with the local school. Clergy go in regularly for assemblies, the children contribute to Sunday morning worship in a variety of ways, and there are also educational visits.
The church has regular coffee mornings, usually in someone’s house in the village, though sometimes in the meeting room. Details are available in the monthly village magazine, which is available on the Birchanger Facebook page.
Wednesday afternoon tea rooms happens week, offering a selection of homemade cakes, including gluten-free options. We are open at school closing time, if you fancy treating your children. Ice cream is also available!
We also host two lunches , typically in the summer and winter. The summer one is in the garden (weather-permitting), and the winter one is in the hall, or in the meeting room, depending on numbers attending.
We also put on occasional events, such a bingo nights, quiz nights, and a festival of flowers.
