Worship at St John’s
The worship at St John’s is in the Anglo-Catholic tradition. The clergy dress in cassocks and chasubles, and services on Sundays culminate with the sacred drama of communion. We have communion every week – the Eucharistic prayer is not sung, though other key parts of the liturgy are.
St John’s church has a tradition of music which is supplied by our professional organist and a dedicated choir. Their services enhance both the Sunday Sung Eucharist service and special services throughout the year.
On the first Sunday of the month, we have an all-age service, which is a little more informal and interactive than our regular services. Baptisms often take place in this service.
In addition to our Sunday service, we also have morning prayer each week from Monday to Thursday on Zoom at 9am. The link is here, the password is ‘Stansted’, and anyone is very welcome.
